Councillors have just received the following email from the Leader of the Council:
Dear Colleagues,
Today, I am delighted to be able to announce the Conservative Group’s budget proposals relating to car parking charges.
As a result of the increased funding from the Government; internal efficiencies; greater revenue than expected from P&D tariffs; and reductions in levies, today we are proposing:
· an end to Sunday car parking charges across the Borough;
· the introduction of 1,000, 30-minute free on-street parking bays in Hornchurch, Upminster and Romford;
· the introduction of a 20% discount for parking in Council car parks for Havering Residents that pay by phone or app; and
· free parking for specified hours in park car parks of New Windmill Hall, Cottons Park and Lodge Farm Parks.
This will be combined with an investment programme within our Town Centres – providing the investment needed to maintain our excellent High Streets.
This has only been possible because of the sound financial management of the Council and this represents a huge vote of confidence in Havering’s High Streets.
Kindest regards,
Councillor Damian White
Leader of Havering Council
