As your local MP, Julia Lopez secured a meeting with Met Commissioner Sir Mark Rowley on April 20th, residents have one more chance to sign the petition before Julia meets him. Julia will present the petition so that:
- A local police presence is secured to deter and tackle rising crime
- Police patrols are more effective and efficient
- The 350 new police officers in our unit, as a result of the Government's manifesto promise, have a permanent base
The petition is also backed by your Conservative London Assembly Member Keith Prince who says:
"Crime across the country as a whole has fallen. Whereas here in London it has only risen under Sadiq Khan's leadership."
It comes as knife crime increased 121.4% in Havering between January and February. Your local Conservative volunteers have also joined the campaign, with backing from association chairman Dominic Swan who has previously said:
"Police should be stationed closer to crime scenes and Hornchurch police station acts as a local base to effectively deal with crime"
Between February 2022 and February 2023, knife crime in Havering is up 39.2%, domestic abuse is up 6.3% and all crimes are up 9.6%. Your Conservatives secured the chance for the council to buy the station in 2017, but the sale stalled. Now, Sadiq Khan wants to sell the station, and the safety of residents is yet again at risk.
Join over 850 others and sign the petition below. Will you help with the fight to save Hornchurch Police station?
