It has been decided that there need to be more Thames crossings. In 2013 the location of a crossing near to the present Dartford crossing was the subject of public consultations. Now a new set of consultations regarding a crossing closer to central London is beginning.
Transport for London has proposed four options which form the subject of the present consultation. They are:
A new ferry service or bridge at Gallions Reach
A replacement Woolwich ferry service
A new bridge at Belvedere
TFL is holding a number of roadshows where residents can speak to TFL staff about the options but there is also a website where the details are set out and everyone can make their views known by completing a questionnaire. To access this visit tfl.gov.uk/new-river-crossings. The consultation will close on Friday 12 September 2014.
As the form and location of any new crossing will affect many of us living in Hornchurch and Upminster for years to come you are urged to participate in this consultation.
