The Council has been reviewing its library service as part of the process of exploring the potential for developing Community Hubs along the lines of other schemes elsewhere.
The concept behinds these hubs is to bring neighbourhood services under one roof and make to better use of facilities. The intention would be that there should be no overall loss of provision of library services, but there could be combined use and more work with the voluntary sector and wider community.
The review has interestingly revealed that our local Hornchurch library in North Street is the Borough's busiest library and that a good case can be made for longer opening hours in any changes that may emerge.
