On Tuesday night (26th March), organisers for the We Are FSTVL held their annual meeting with residents and businesses in Upminster.
The Festival will run from Friday 24th May to Sunday 26th May at Damyn’s Hall Aerodrome, Aveley Road, Upminster, RM14 2TN.
At the meeting, organisers explained that the event would run similarly to previous years, but with some minor changes. The take home points of the evening were:
- A finishing time of 12:30am across all three nights (previously this was 01:30am on Friday)
- All people entering the festival will be scanned by a metal detector and be subject to scrutiny by passive drugs dogs, to prevent illegal items being brought in.
- There would be around 3000 festival goers on Friday (campers)
- There would be around 28,500 festival goers on Saturday and Sunday
- There will be a community response team available to respond to any problems.
- A residents hot line number (phone number to be confirmed) will be available between:
- 8am-9pm from Tuesday 14th May until Thursday 23rd
- 24 hours a day from 8am Friday 24th until 9pm on Monday 27th
- 8am-9pm from Tuesday 28th until Friday 31st
- Following problems last year with ‘cabs’ in the Waldergrave Gardens area, this road and some surrounding it will be designated ‘Residents Only’ for the period of the festival. Residents of affected roads will be issued with vehicle passes (further details to be published on their website)..
- Signage will be improved and there will be more public toilets available at Upminster Station.
