At the Havering Safer Neighbourhood Board Conference on 02 March Jason Gwillim, Borough Commander Met Police Havering, confirmed that crime was continuing to decrease in our area. However, many residents think the most important part of local policing is the visibility of the police on the streets and, as there have been fewer police on the beat, find it hard to believe that crime has actually been dropping.
Priorities for policing in London are driven by the Mayor so, until after the election in May 2016 the Met doesn’t know where its main priorities will have to be for the four years ahead. If you have strong views on the direction you believe the Met should follow you have the opportunity to influence the future by making your priorities known to the mayoral candidates and to your local Ward Panels and using your vote for the candidate who best shares your views.
