With 96 heavy vehicles a day, set to transport 150,000 tonnes of sand and gravel a year, for the next 20 years, a new quarry located less than 2 miles from the centre of Upminster could be coming in the future. Your local Conservatives have launched a petition to stop the quarry.
Following a pothole patrol by your local Conservative volunteers, they have reported dozens of potholes. Our country roads are not suitable for heavy traffic.
Upminster ward Conservative volunteer, Adam Baker has said "Over £2 million in cuts for road maintenance by the Residents Association Political Party and Labour council, will mean our country lanes will not cope with the new quarry". He added, "We have reported many potholes, with the worst in country lanes such as Aveley Road or Harwood Hall Lane."
There needs to be a bigger question on value for money, there has been a deterioration of the roads and pavements over the last year. Despite a new council tax hike by the HRA and Labour council, and a 9.5% increase to funding by the government, the council should fulfil basic services. £200,000,000 more investment has been made available for fixing potholes across the country.
